Phenomenon Chapter One

here's a little bit of my new story!

“Hello!” The man behind the counter seemed friendly so far. Josiah had been waling down the street two minutes ago, heading back to his apartment after a day of work. Then he had seen a sign above the local police station that said “Sign Up Now!” with big flashy letters. Josiah was bored, which was why he had stopped.
“What is your name?” the man asked, “And what is your occupation?”
                “Josiah Greenwich, woodworker.”
“Any hobbies?” the man was writing this all down. Odd.
“Not really, unless you count racing as a hobby.”
The man looked up, suddenly interested. “Racing you say? What kind exactly?”
“I drive a stock car down at the raceway most weekends,” Josiah replied.
                “Are you any good?”
“They keep inviting me back,” Josiah tried to see what the man was writing down, unsuccessfully.
“Perfect!” he exclaimed, placing the paper into a slot. “If you come back tomorrow, same time, there’ll be a person here to talk to you.”
“What exactly did I sign up for?” Josiah asked as the man stood.
“You’ll find out tomorrow!” The man exclaimed cheerily. With that, he went through a door at the back of the police station, leaving Josiah there alone. Josiah shrugged and turned to leave, wondering why he had come in in the first place.

Interview

So it seems doing character interviews is popular, so here goes. My interview with none other than Tristan Nonson.

Me: Hello there Tristan, how’s it going?
Tristan: Pretty good so far, except my ribs are broken. I fell down a hole.
Me: I know, that may have been my fault.
Tristan: What’d you do that for? That really hurt! I could have died!
Me: Don’t worry about it, you were never going to die. Anyways, I brought you here so you could answer a few questions.
Tristan: What kind of questions?
Me: Sit quiet and you’ll find out.
Tristan: Okay.
Me: So, you were brought up at an orphanage in Dracwick. Have you ever been anywhere outside the city before Bela brought you to Stone?
Tristan: A couple of times. Once I jumped ship on a small boat that went downriver to a small village about an hour away from Dracwick. Once I got there though, I got left behind and had to walk back. That wasn’t very fun.
Me: And you are proficient with both the spear and the sword, correct?
Tristan: Yeah, I’m okay with a sword. Not like Hunter or Stone though. Those guys are crazy good. With a spear I hold my own against the best, even if I haven’t trained much with it before. A spear is useful in that you can injure someone with little risk to yourself. With a sword you have to get in close, and that’s where things get scary.
Me: Have you ever considered using a shield in addition to your spear?
Tristan: Not really, no. Mostly because a good shield is expensive, and there aren’t that many in Dracwick.
Me: Okay, one more question then. What do you think of the Alvarii?
Tristan: Well, they aren’t as bad as I thought they were going to be. True, they are very skilled fighters, but so am I. I wouldn’t want to fight more than two at a time, but I’m not afraid to fight them.
Me: And what do you think about them as people?
Tristan: Well, Stone’s alright, obvisously. As for the rest, I couldn’t care less. They’re full of anger and hate, and wish to kill everything. Luckily, me and my friends are around to stop them. We’ve taken some casualties, but we’re still going strong.
Me: Good to hear. Even though I knew that.
Tristan: Cheater.
Me: Hey, I’m the author, not you. Anyways, I’ll let you go then. Have fun fighting off the Alvarii.
Tristan: And the Shapeless.
Me: Oh, right. Don’t die.
Tristan: Make me.

The Phenomenon

Here's the intro to my newest story! Hope you enjoy it!

“That’s right. Phenomenon.” I chuckle quietly to myself, alone save this recording device. “That’s what they call me. Phenomenon. Fastest man on the planet. And not just because I can move quickly.
“It was a long time ago,” I spoke into the microphone. “I was young, we all were at one point. Thing is, I was young in a place I never should have been. The government at that time called themselves the OCG, or Organized Continental Government. They were interested in lots of things, clean energy, food for everyone, stuff like that. At least, that’s what they told the public. In reality, they were the same as all power hungry rulers, since the dawn of time. They knew their time on the top of the heap would end soon, and they were desperate to stop it. Into this pool of desperation, I was forced. I guess I shouldn’t say forced though. At the time I wanted it. I was young, like I said before. I was young, and my name was Josiah Greenwich. I suppose I’m supposed to record everything that happened, so I will begin at the beginning, where all good stories seem to begin. It was the year 2999, exactly one year away from the biggest celebration on the planet. And there I was, seventeen, gullible, and full of passion for my country.”

OK, welcome to my blog. :D I have written a story which will likely be alluded to by me, but I don't feel like posting it all on here, so here's a link to the UG, where the story is. http://www.heedtheprophecies.com/theunderground/topic.php?id=24875

If you've already read my story, give me some feedback! Favourite character, scene, line, whatever! Or if you wanna say hi, then hi!
Ok, here we go! My first blog. :) I'll try to get things on here ASAP, after I figure out how to run this thing. :)
